A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Programme Organising Committee of the 14th International Thyroid Congress has drawn up an exciting scientific programme that covers all areas in the thyroid field.

PLENARY LECTURES (PL01-PL06)
Four of the six plenary lectures will be given by award winners of the four international thyroid sister societies (AOTA, ATA, ETA and LATS), reflecting the truly global character of the congress. But the first plenary deals with “The Year in Thyroid” as a continuation of a highly successful venture, and the second should be of interest to all who love the thyroid gland.

DEBATES (DB01-DB02)
Controversial topics will be highlighted in two debates, one on a clinical and the other on a basic subject. Voting machines are ready to monitor how convincing the debaters appear to be.

IMPLEMENTING GUIDELINES (IG01-IG03)
Just listening to what recent guidelines say, can be rather dull. Therefore we designed a format in which after a short introduction the moderator presents a particular case, and then asks representatives of the four international thyroid sister societies (and the audience, by voting machines) how they would manage the case. Guidelines differ between continents: how can that be as they are referring to the same evidence-base?

MEET THE EXPERTS (ME01-ME24)
Find out if your colleagues from overseas share your view on a wide range of basic and clinical topics.

SYMPOSIA (SY01-SY28)
Considerable progress is being made in all fields of thyroid research. To keep up with new developments, symposia speakers have been carefully selected. Really new and fascinating advances in clinical and basic thyroidology will surprise you many times.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS (OC01-OC32)
Free communications selected from accepted abstracts will be presented in these sessions. We can accommodate a huge number of orals!

POSTER VIEWING AND POSTER DISCUSSION SESSIONS (PD01-PD24)
Posters will be displayed during the entire duration of the congress. Ample time is provided for poster viewing. A new feature are poster discussion sessions, in which a number of selected posters in a particular area will be presented by the authors and discussed under the guidance of a knowledgeable chairperson.

BUSINESS MEETINGS
The programme allows for business meetings of each of the four international thyroid sister societies if they wish to do so.
